Gala Celebrates Opening of Schneider Arena

On the occasion of the first game of the women's hockey team at Providence College, there will be a gala event on the evening of Friday, September 27, to celebrate the grand reopening of Schneider Arena. The extensive new three-story addition to the existing hockey arena, designed by SMMA, included renovation of support spaces and arena, full utility upgrades, and new landscaping.

In addition to the architecture, SMMA also did the structural engineering and landscape design. The 41,710-square-foot arena accommodates 2,978 seats. The project included the renovation of 68,501 square feet of existing space and addition of 30,429 square feet, for a total 91,803 square feet. The construction manager for the $17.3 million project was Shawmut Design and Construction, Inc.

In addition to a gala dinner, the evening will include an "open skate," when all guests will be invited to take a spin on the ice.
