Darling and McCormack Announced as Principals at SMMA

SMMA has announced two promotions to the role of principal: architect and Design Technology Manager Dave Darling, and Director of Administration Heather McCormack.
American School & University magazine recently selected two SMMA projects—Providence College's Schneider Arena and the collective master plans for the Connecticut State University System, comprising Eastern, Western, Central, and Southern Universitites—for inclusion in its annual Architectural Portfolio. Jonathan Merin, LEED AP, is SMMA’s newest Project Manager. He brings to the firm extensive knowledge of BIM, as well as familiarity with software programs such as Revit, AutoCAD, SketchUp, and Photoshop. He also has a wealth of experience to draw upon, having worked on a variety of project types, including retail, corporate, and check-processing/print facilities.
The L.L.Bean Outdoor Discovery Center, designed by SMMA, opened recently with a ribbon-cutting ceremony along scenic Brickyard Cove in Maine’s Casco Bay. The new Center replaces a series of smaller buildings on the site and serves as a new base lodge for L.L.Bean’s popular guided recreation experiences including kayaking, paddle boarding, snowshoeing, and cycling.
On June 24, at the annual meeting of the International Interior Design Association's New England Chapter, SMMA's Marie Fitzgerald was presented with a Leadership Award, recognizing her outstanding contributions to both the field of interior design and the organization. This honor can be received only once in an individual’s lifetime, and is not given out every year.
