Project Description: SMMA was retained to master plan, permit and provide a new architectural image for the 95-acre former headquarters campus of Raytheon Corporation to attract image-conscious life science laboratory tenants.
Taking maximum advantage of the high visibility location at the intersection of Boston’s Route 128 beltway and Route 2, SMMA designed three new 3-story buildings totaling 300,000 square feet, and proposed renovation of three existing multi-story facilities for an additional 318,000 sf. Approximately 2000 parking spaces are provided in a combination of on-grade, below-building, and structured parking facilities.
The planning challenge was to provide a feasible solution on a site with extensive ledge, wetlands and steeply sloping topography.
