UMass Amherst - Bartlett hallAmherst, Massachusetts |
OverviewBartlett Hall is a well-used 4-story concrete frame classroom and faculty office building on the Amherst campus of the University of Massachusetts. Built circa 1958-1960, the building has two distinct wings connected on each floor by a glass enclosed link. The exterior envelope of each wing is distinct in its design and construction and each shows different indications of distress and deterioration. SMMA is studying renovation of Bartlett Hall. Phase I of this study includes an investigation of the existing building façade and proposed design alternatives for its renovation and/or replacement. Phase II includes an investigation of the interior existing building systems and conditions and the code compliance requirements. Illustrated here is the approved architectural alternative for the complete re-cladding of the exterior. |
