OverviewThis corporate cafeteria addition houses new full-service food operations for an established Cambridge, MA corporation. Consisting of approximately 3,000 SF of reconfigured space on the ground floor, the project also adds a court-yard level feature pavilion of over 4,000 SF for the seating area of the cafeteria. The project brief called for seating of approximately 150 people in a space that can also function after hours for company and community programs and events. The servery is based on the “scatter” system and was to include a functioning pizza oven. Keeping with the clean lines and materials of the existing facility, the exterior consists of light stone cladding with a strong horizontal delineation and a 20-foot high aluminum curtain wall along the outer edge. Interior materials continue the theme, utilizing natural pecan wood paneling, stainless steel accents, and a unique carpet patterning. The lighting furthers this concept with a random lighting placement recalling star constellations in the sky. |
