Grafton High School

Overview

This project is the first step in implementing the district wide Master Plan developed by SMMA. This new 187,000 SF high school for 900 students is developed around a forward thinking cluster (pod) plan approach that upholds the tenets of 21st Century teaching and learning: collaboration, communication, creativity The school includes:

• classrooms designed to support student-centric learning, with four teaching walls and multiple learning zones rather than traditional stand and deliver orientation
• classroom pods that create small learning communities; adjacencies and shared, multidisciplinary spaces facilitating project-based, interdisciplinary learning
• language labs with interactive space video conferencing, and technology, rather than the barriers of traditional carrels

The school is scheduled to open in September 2012.
