UMass Amherst - Nanotechnology LaboratoryAmherst, Massachusetts |
OverviewContinuing a string of projects completed for the University of Massachusetts system, SMMA designed cleanroom and support spaces within the Conte Polymer Research Center. This renovation of existing space within the center will provide 1,500 SF of Class 1000 clean space. The Center houses the Department of Polymer Science and Engineering at UMass Amherst, which is one of the largest academic centers for polymer research in the world and seeks to expand the useful application of polymers to human needs. Cross-discipline research is integral to the program, which involves departments such as physics, chemistry, biology, and chemical engineering. The new nanotechnology facility will enable new possibilities in student and faculty research in polymer synthesis, characterization, morphology, rheology, physics, engineering, biotechnology, and green technology. |
