SMMA Welcomes Jonathan Merin

Jonathan Merin, LEED AP, is SMMA’s newest Project Manager. Mr. Merin comes to SMMA from NELSON, where his clients included Verizon, for which he worked on an innovation center in San Francisco; Pearson, for which he transformed a 60,000+-square-foot closed-office environment into a 100% open space, with a benching system; Bank of America, for which he converted an aging data center into an alternative workspace, as part of the client’s My Work program; and, most recently, Google, which he describes as his most rewarding and challenging project to date, consisting of three interconnected buildings in Kendall Square that collectively comprise more than 300,000 square feet.

When asked to define his favorite aspect of project management, Mr. Merin quickly said, “Solving problems of all kinds. I see myself as a gap-filler—someone who solves the problems that others either don’t or can’t.” To solve those problems, Mr. Merin relies on his extensive knowledge of BIM, as well as his familiarity with software programs such as Revit, AutoCAD, SketchUp, and Photoshop. He also has a wealth of experience to draw upon, having worked on a variety of project types, including retail, corporate, and check-processing/print facilities.

“Jonathan is an exceptionally organized, detail-oriented Project Manager, as well as an effective communicator,” said Marie Fitzgerald, SMMA’s Director of Interior Design. “He’s hit the ground running, and has already made significant contributions to our Corporate and Commercial Studio since joining the team. We’re excited to have him on board.”
