SMMA Hits the Runway at IIDA Fashion Show

Last night, a talented group of SMMA employees took to the Boston Convention Center to represent the firm at one of our favorite events: the International Interior Design Association of New England’s annual Fashion Show. A celebration of the creative abilities of the region’s top design professionals, the evening marked the culmination of several months of planning, coordination, and production efforts for the SMMA team.

Working with this year’s theme— SENSEation—in mind, our engineers and designers developed three unique, inventive fashion pieces evocative of “the intimate warmth of touch, the invulnerable security of armor, and the weightless ecstasy of flight.” In a prepared narrative further describing their design intent, the team wrote: “These sensations—love, safety, adventure—represent, at our core, our most basic desires. Inspired by biomechanics and technology, we created a fashion that outwardly expresses the connection between these sensations and what it means to be alive.”

“The Fashion Show is always a great team effort, and this year was no exception,” said Marie Fitzgerald, SMMA’s Director of Interior Design. “It’s an opportunity for collaboration among different departments and disciplines that consistently yields exciting results. And our models looked like naturals on the runway—amazing! I’m so proud of this year’s team, not only for their hard work, but also for being such wonderful ambassadors for SMMA.”

A special thanks to our friends at Knoll, Vanguard Lighting, and Office Resources for providing the materials that allowed our team to bring their visions to life.
