Kendyl McEntee Promoted to Director of Human Resources

Kendyl McEntee, SHRM-CP, was recently promoted to Director of Human Resources. McEntee, who joined SMMA in 2016, has seen natural advancement within the firm due to her broad expertise and forward-thinking visions.

Originally a California resident, the former Toyota Carlsbad HR Generalist made a trip to Boston, Massachusetts in 2014 that left her seeking a new adventure. She fell in love with the city immediately, thus deciding to start a new chapter of her life on the East Coast. Knowing that the human resources market was highly competitive, McEntee ensured her move by first accepting a role as Assistant Director of Admissions with the New England Institute of Art (NEIA).

“Working in admissions was a lot of fun,” McEntee recalls. “I have always loved the excitement of education and developing people — What better way to get my feet wet in a new city than helping young adults plan for their future through the resources that the city has to offer?”

It wasn’t long until McEntee became more acquainted with her new lifestyle and started to pursue her love for human resources once again; this career move was further facilitated by the NEIA’s official closing. She served as HR Generalist for a government contractor in downtown Boston before finding her way to Cambridge to become SMMA’s HR Generalist.

“When I joined the firm, I was welcomed with such warmth that it truly felt like a family,” McEntee explains. “With incredible mentorship from [then] HR Director Jane Quercia, I’ve gone from learning the ropes to being in a special position to influence the shape of the ropes.”

McEntee has proven success through her progressive ideology around organizational development, strategic leadership, firm culture, employee engagement, workplace wellness, and staff development. “Through my time here, I’ve been able to establish trust with my peers,” she says. “I want to continue to strengthen those bonds by implementing actionable items that can make the firm an even better place. My goal is to get the right people in the room to facilitate a dialogue and create what’s right for everyone.”

McEntee — who always tries to plan ahead — is currently dedicating her time being hands-on with several SMMA initiatives that aim to set the firm up for success and empower its people to seek out positive solutions.

“Kendyl brings her dynamic organizational and strategic leadership skills to the Director of Human Resources role,” says Joel Seeley, Chief Operating Officer. “She is an enthusiastic advocate for our wellbeing, careers, and professional growth — now and well into the future — while ensuring that our benefits program remains exceptional across the industry.”
