SMMA is proud to announce that Natasha Pirman, Ph.D., has joined the firm. Dr. Pirman will help lead the firm’s laboratory planning efforts primarily within SMMA’s Science and Technology Studio.
In the spirit of supporting and guiding new talent and the next generation of designers, SMMA created the SMMA Fund. With a substantial portion of our practice dedicated to learning environments—both K-12 and Higher Ed—this is just one of numerous initiatives that allow us to give back to the communities on which live and practice every day.
Martine Dion, AIA, LEED AP, BD+C, SMMA’s Director of Sustainable Design, led a breakfast panel on June 6 on “Harnessing the Sun: Perspectives on Solar Energy,” sponsored by the International Facilities Management Association's Boston Chapter.
On May 13, at the Massachusetts State House, Martine Dion, SMMA's Director of Sustainable Design, was present, along with Quincy High School administrators, to receive the Green Ribbon School Award.
Grafton High School and SMMA were honored with a Project of Distinction award by the Council of Educational Facility Planners International at the association’s northeast regional conference. Opened last September, the school's 187,000-square-foot campus is designed to support a variety of learning styles while fostering essential career skills including collaboration, critical thinking and problem solving.
