SMMA’s Phil Poinelli, FAIA, ALEP, featured in Learning By Design Magazine

An article by SMMA’s Phil Poinelli, FAIA, ALEP, was featured in Learning By Design Magazine’s Fall 2020 issue. The article, titled, “The Path Forward: Addressing Our Triple Pandemic,” discusses the COVID-19 pandemic and the resulting economic crisis, the ongoing pandemic of racial injustice, and their impact on learning environments.

“The three pandemics present a sense of urgency, and an opportunity, to heal our communities and advance equity now,” Poinelli writes. “These needs cannot wait. The consequences have been part of our society for what feels like forever.”

Poinelli is a Principal and Learning Environment Planner at SMMA who has been nationally recognized as an expert in master-planning and programming of K-12 learning environments. He is also the incoming Chair of the Association for Learning Environments’ Board of Directors.
