Sustainable School Design

“I like all aspects of educational design, especially the creativity involved in conceptualizing each space," says Jenifer. "I particularly enjoyed designing the Bancroft Elementary School in Andover. We spent countless hours with the staff and community, which is invaluable when designing a successful learning environment.”

“SMMA wanted to incorporate the school’s natural surroundings by using similar materials throughout the interior. We designed a two-story atrium, oversized borrowed lights in classrooms, and widened classroom entries, all of which disperse daylight throughout the interior of the school. The palette is sophisticated for an elementary school, with interesting patterns, recycled materials, and playful colors.”
