SMMA Welcomes its Second Year of Integrated Interns
After last year’s successful program launch, SMMA is kicking off the second year of its Integrated Internship. The evolving program retains the same values as it did last year: to provide students and emerging professionals with leadership opportunities and a fully integrated experience, taking advantage of the firm’s multidisciplinary model.
“We are so excited to host SMMA’s Integrated Internship Program for a second year,” says Kendyl McEntee, Director of Human Resources. “The Internship Committee and I are very proud to have returning interns from last year’s program helping lead the new group. It’s a fantastic mentoring opportunity for them, and they’re helping us evolve our programming to be more impactful for all our interns. We’re taking last year’s concepts and kicking them up to the next level — including more interdepartmental shadowing opportunities, more ‘real-life’ topic lunch and learn presentations from current SMMA staff, as well as getting to work on real projects. It’s going to be a fantastic summer!”
The firm welcomes 12 new interns this year alongside three returning interns, and will run up until the end of August. Interns — each paired with an SMMA mentor — will participate in weekly meetings, shadowing opportunities, site visits, staff events, and a final collaboration project that includes a firmwide presentation.
“It was exciting to see how enthusiastic the incoming interns were,” says Zack Blais, returning intern and Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute student. “This year we have a much wider range of experience and background entering the program, so it will be interesting to see how the interns make the program their own. As an intern who is helping lead the program this year, it means a great deal to have the trust and support of the staff to help the next group of interns grow. I think we can really take the program to a whole new level and continue its success in the future.”
SMMA is looking forward to a summer full of exploration, development, and working with its new talent.
