Aly's Thesis Honored by BAC

SMMA is pleased to congratulate Ahmed Aly, Senior Designer, upon being conferred a Master of Architecture degree from the Boston Architectural College, and for receiving both an Architecture Thesis Commendation and the Edwin T. Steffian Centennial Thesis Award. The latter recognizes the Class of 2016’s most successful thesis presentation.

Lyceum Fellowship Names Winners, Publishes Travelogue

In 1985, inspired by a lifelong love of travel and a commitment to philanthropy, SMMA founder Jon McKee established the Lyceum Fellowship, a non-profit organization that, in its own words, “seeks to establish a dialogue through design among schools of architecture.” Each year, the Fellowship holds a student-only design competition, convening a jury of highly regarded industry professionals and bestowing a travel grant upon the winning entrant.

Long Named IIDANE Emerging Leader of the Year

Sarah Long, an interior designer in SMMA’s Corporate and Commercial Studio, was recently honored by the New England Chapter of the International Interior Design Association as its Emerging Leader of the Year. Sarah was presented with the honor at the organization’s annual Business Leaders Breakfast, an event that gathers more than 500 design professionals from around the region to celebrate member contributions and examine challenges inherent to the modern business climate.

Rice Participates in USGBC Building Tech Forum

SMMA Project Architect Matthew Rice, AIA, LEED AP BD+C, recently participated in the U.S. Green Building Council’s Building Tech Forum, hosted by Greentown Labs in Somerville. Drawing more than 200 design, construction, and real estate professionals from Greater Boston and beyond, the Forum examined the impact of design technology on future sustainable building efforts in the Commonwealth, as well as the relationship between innovation and real estate trends.
