Darling and McCormack Announced as Principals at SMMA
January 17, 2024
SMMA has announced two promotions to the role of principal: architect and Design Technology Manager Dave Darling, and Director of Administration Heather McCormack.
Philip J. Poinelli, FAIA, a Principal with SMMA, was named to the College of Fellows by the American Institute of Architects 2012 Jury of Fellows. Elevation to Fellowship is an honor awarded to AIA members who have made significant contributions to the architecture profession and society on a national level.
SMMA’s Wellesley High School design team joined town officials, students, faculty and residents to celebrate the opening of Wellesley’s new 280,000-square-foot high school. As class of ’40 and ’41 alumni ceremoniously turned out the lights in the old gymnasium, more than 1400 students walked from the old gymnasium to begin school in the adjacent new building. Scheduled to open in September, the new $115M high school was completed six months early and on budget.
Ted Szostkowski, AIA, SMMA Principal and Director of the firm's Higher Education Studio, recently sat down with the Boston Society for Architects to talk about architecture, inspirations, and his general outlook on the profession.
The National School Boards Association and the American Institute of Architects awarded a citation for design innovation to SMMA for the planning and design of the new Quincy High School. The project will be featured in the Exhibition of School Architecture at the NSBA 72nd Annual Conference and Exposition in Boston on April 21-22.
